GRIDplan

Once full visibility is achieved using a detailed system model, various kinds of analyses can be run based on snapshot and historical information. Some of these analyses are:

  • What-if type of scenario analysis
  • Analysis of impacts of DER
  • DER placement based on system demand patterns
  • DER dispatch planning and simulation
  • Determine optimized capacitor and other control device switching sequences
  • Ranking of optimized load related system modification such as:
    • Re-conductoring
    • Placement of capacitors and voltage regulators
    • Phase and feeder re-balancing
  • Ranking of system expansion and capital projects
  • Day ahead, hour ahead operational planning based on historical and forecast loading patterns

Analyses carried out this way uses very accurate load and flow patterns over various historical loading scenarios. Such a planning will be far more accurate compared to current practices that rely on approximated peak demand calculations and a limited number of system scenarios. The use of GRIDplan on top of the GRIDfast engine will provide additional detail resulting in more cost effective system upgrades resulting in cost savings.
